• The yearly garden report.

  A couple of years ago I gave up vegtable gardening as a bad idea, and put everything in flowers.  I've mostly a shady garden, still growing, still evolving, and this year still a pretty unorganized mess.  But things do bloom, and here is a sample of what is going on.

  Miniature hollyhocks, gorgeous, and given to me by my friend Becky, who just sort of yanked one out of her yard and handed it to me, roots and all.  I recently passed some on the same way to Quin's grandmother.

  

  Last year I planted three colors of Clematis.........pink,

  

  white..........

  

  and a purple.  They are doing quite well.

  

  Columbine.  Different colors, but this is the only one blooming now.  They were planted last year and are rapidly spreading.  I didn't know they did that.

  

  These are.........um.........I forgot.  Anyone know?  Bleeding hearts?

   

  Good old common marigolds, Walmart.

  

  And the Idaho rocks, although refusing to do their balancing trick this year, are still here.

  Not Queen Anne's Lace.  Any guesses?

  

  The Calla Lilly.  Actually there are five of them, the ones planted this year are already finished, but last year's grew back big and strong, and look pretty durn happy.

  

  Little zinnias, also Walmart fare, growing happily by a rock.

  

  A couple of different types of daisies........ fuzzy ones and...

  

  Whoops, petunias.  Okay, the other daisies will show up somewhere.

  

  Gladiolas

  

  Coneflowers?  The center feels sharp and spikey.

   

  Ah, the other daisies.  Regular, non fluffy type.

  

  The wildflower patch in it's yellow phase.  Two weeks ago it was blue.

  

  And red hot pokers.........maybe?  Please stay tuned.  More to come.
